Losing my brother in a halfway house was something my family will never fully recover from. My mom is a single mother who spent years fighting for her son to get better, only to be let down by a system that never protected him. For the first time, she felt like someone actually cared , and that person was Alex. From the very beginning, Alex showed us compassion that went far beyond his role as an attorney. He listened to my mom’s pain, he acknowledged my brother’s life and story, and he never once made us feel like just another case.
