I needed a lawyer and i spoke to JR Emerson concerning my divorce case. He was very upfront and told me the truth. He said my case was not large enough for them to take on, but if i want to go forward with them the cost will not be worth it, but rather he gave me the names and phone #'s of 3 lawyers that handle smaller cases and that they might be able to handle my case at a lower cost. He further said, if these lawyers can't help me, i should go back to him and he will recommend more lesser cost lawyers. I took that to be extremely helpful. He stated that lawyers are extremely helpful so that the party in question can not be walked on.

I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the legal representation I received from Emerson Law, hereafter referred to as "Jr." Throughout the course of my case, Jr. demonstrated a lack of initiative, accountability, and professionalism that has left me financially strained and legally disadvantaged. At the provisional hearing, Jr. remained completely silent—even in the face of clear evidence contradicting the opposing party's claims. Despite having documentation that could have shifted the direction of the case, he chose not to speak or advocate on my behalf. His passivity was both disappointing and detrimental. Additionally, Jr. failed to follow through on several critical actions I explicitly requested, including initiating a paternity test and pursuing what I believed to be legitimate fraud concerns. His inaction on these fronts left major aspects of my case unresolved. Although I was billed at a rate of $500 per hour, it often felt as though the bare minimum was being done. The only task Jr. completed was the initial divorce filing. As a result of his poor guidance and overall mismanagement, I am now facing a monthly financial shortfall of approximately $3,500. Rather than taking responsibility, he responded by threatening to withdraw from the case unless further payments were made—despite the ongoing and incomplete work. In total, I have spent over $15,000 for what I estimate to be less than one-third of the necessary legal effort. To compound matters, Jr. was visibly outperformed in court by opposing counsel, who lacked the same level of resources or specialization. This experience has been incredibly disappointing, both personally and financially. I hope this feedback will serve to highlight the need for higher standards of accountability and advocacy within your practice.
