I had a very very positive experience working with Lesley Cohen at this office! She did an amazing job explaining everything to me as it pertained to the area of family law I was struggling with; she always presented with patience and a wealth of knowledge, which was so helpful for me. This was my first time working with a family law attorney after doing at least 8 other consultations. I'm so thankful I retained Leslie! If it wasn't for her, I don't know what situation I would be in now. She is extremely knowledgeable on LGBTQ related family matters! Thank you for everything and everyone that helped in her office was also great- the billing department, paralegals, etc. This was a 5 star experience for me!! Communication was great, everything was transparent, I always felt valued and respected, and Leslie did an amazing job of keeping me informed along the way; thoroughly explaining the processes. I can't say thank you enough! I would 100% recommend and use again if needed!

I’m only writing this review to help other parents avoid the mistake I made. Hopefully you read this before making your decision and can make better choices for yourself. This was my experience. Out of fear and urgency to protect my child, I made the mistake of hiring this firm - a mistake that ultimately destroyed everything I had worked to achieve on my own. I originally scheduled a video consultation, but at the time of the meeting was told it had to be a phone call instead. Later, I realized this may have been because the firm relies on new, inexperienced attorneys who struggle to answer basic questions without support. Once I hired them, communication became nearly impossible. Calls and messages went unanswered unless I followed up over and over—yet they still billed me for “communication.” I had to chase them for court dates, submissions, and deadlines, which was unprofessional and extremely stressful. Emily McFarling herself told me she no longer appears in court, citing other business ventures and frequent travel - something confirmed by local attorneys familiar with her social media. Despite charging premium fees, I was reassigned to a completely unprepared and inexperienced attorney, Summer Squires, after the first attorney handling my case left the firm. The night before my hearing, I was told it was confirmed. Moments before walking into court, I mentioned I didn’t even know what the hearing was for—Summer responded, “Me neither.” Because of her lack of preparation, I lost full custody—something I secured on my own before ever hiring this firm. To make matters worse, after the hearing, Summer laughed with another attorney, then sat in my car while I cried—only to bill me for that time. She also gave advice “as a mother,” not as an attorney—guidance that could have seriously damaged my case had I followed it. Meanwhile, the billing never stopped. No accountability. No meaningful refunds. Just financial and emotional devastation. McFarling Law destroyed the progress I had worked so hard to achieve on my own. Before hiring any attorney, ask direct questions: Who will actually represent you in court? Will your case be passed around between attorneys? Can you meet your attorney face-to-face (or at least via Zoom) before trusting them with your child’s future? From what I observed, Emily McFarling has young, inexperienced attorneys working under her name while charging premium fees. That is not the representation you—or your child—deserve.

I highly recommend Holly Fic as a divorce lawyer. She provided exceptional support and guidance during a challenging time. From our first meeting, Holly showcased a deep understanding of the legal process and was always available to answer my questions. Holly Fic and her team exceeded my expectations in every way. She approached my divorce with empathy and strength, offering clear guidance through custody, support and property issues. Throughout the case, the opposing side tried to stall by changing attorneys and dragging their feet; Holly saw through those tactics and kept my case moving. She stayed focused, responded quickly and refused to let unnecessary delays derail the process. Holly listened, strategized effectively and treated me like a priority.
