I used Phoenix Tax Planning for my 2024 tax preparation and, unfortunately, I will not be returning. The process was incredibly frustrating, and I found the service lacking in professionalism and efficiency. First, I had to go into their office for an “interview” before my taxes were prepared. While I understand gathering information is important, some of the comments made during this meeting were inappropriate, like “I can’t believe you’re single” followed by “I’ll give you a discount given your situation.” Apparently, being single is considered a “situation” in their eyes, and it left me feeling uncomfortable. As for the “discount” they promised, I ended up paying more for tax preparation than I ever have before. They then sent me home to do all the math work for my deductions myself, which felt unprofessional and left me questioning why I was paying for their services in the first place. When I returned with my calculations, I was told they no longer had time to finish my taxes and that they would file for an extension. When I asked about potential penalties, the receptionist assured me there would be none. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, and I’ve since received demand letters for penalties that I now have to deal with. When I called to inquire about the penalties, the owner felt the need to “school” me on the situation, which was both unhelpful and condescending. It seems like it’s their staff that could use a bit more training. One of the most concerning aspects of my experience was how focused they seemed on poaching my investments. They repeatedly asked for my investment statements, which felt more like a sales pitch than a tax preparation service. In short, my experience with Phoenix Tax Planning was disappointing and frustrating. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for professional, reliable tax services.

Literally horrible lol. Openly hostile to a young guy trying to start a business. Appears to have given away my personal information. Do not trust period.
