A fantastic law firm! Afsana and her team truly know how to deliver. Sharp, strong, empathetic and strategic, they are the law firm to contact when you are in need of divorce representation.

This firm initially seemed confident and reassuring, but once the contract was signed, support dropped. Assigned lawyers were unprepared, basic tasks were mishandled, and continuity was poor. The experience was frustrating, and I would not recommend them.

My custody case was a moderately complex with subopenas for depositions and psychological evaluations coupled with exaggerated events to paint me as an unfit parent by the opposing party. Attorney Chowdhury introduced me to her colleague Bruce Eells who neutralized the opposing party's falsehoods with Truth, reason and a calm demeanor. Not forgetting hid tactical negotiation skills when the opposing party was unrelenting became crucial in arriving at a settlement. I'm glad that I made this choice to retaining Bruce as my counsel. The paralegal Vicky is also a pleasure to work with. Thank you Chowdhury Divorce Law Group!

Beware: In 2023, I sought help from Attorney Afsana Chowdhury during a very vulnerable time in my life. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing and financially damaging. From our first call, I felt pressured to sign a retainer agreement and pay $9,000 within three days—money I had to borrow from friends and family. She assured me my divorce would be completed in three months, a promise I later learned was unrealistic. Important options, like filing for child or spousal support, were never mentioned. When my ex did not respond within the initial timeframe, I was told my retainer had already expired and that I would need to pay another $9,000 just for her to review the response. This was financially impossible for me, and I felt there was no flexibility or empathy for my situation. I even attempted to resolve the matter through the Virginia Bar’s dispute resolution program, but she did not cooperate. Communication was further strained because, although she claimed to have an office in Fairfax, she would not meet in person and only worked remotely. This happened two years ago, but it has taken me until now to gather the courage to write about it. Each time I tried before, it brought back the painful conversations and memories, and I would shut down. I am sharing this now because I want to protect others who may already be struggling with the pain of separation and searching for help. She hid behind the excuse that “everything was in the papers you signed,” a dismissive, cliché line to cover up unethical behavior Two years later, I hired a different attorney who resolved my case quickly and fairly. Looking back, I feel my trust, finances, and emotional state were exploited at a very difficult time. I’m sharing this so other can make informed decisions when seeking family law support. My advice: research thoroughly and find an attorney who demonstrates honesty, transparency, and compassion not just business!

I utilized this law firm for a child support and custody case. The attorney I received did not communicate effectively at all. When it came time to go to court my attorney did not show up but had the ability to write an email that morning citing how the court case may go. The opposing counsel filed an affidavit that day and all the evidence I had could not be used in further court proceedings. I ended up having to pay the opposing counsel's legal fees $10k and the case is ongoing with a different law firm. I would pursue a malpractice case against this firm, but I don't have the energy nor funds to do so. I would not advise this law firm to anyone.
