I worked with Leigh Jones during my high-conflict divorce in 2024, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. As a fellow working mom, she immediately understood both the legal and emotional complexity of my situation and approached my case with genuine empathy and respect. Leigh was patient as I worked through trauma while still needing to move forward, and she consistently provided honest, thoughtful feedback. She managed expectations clearly and realistically, while also empowering me to advocate for what I believed was in the best interest of my children. I highly recommend Kate McDonough and everyone at her practice. Over the past five years, she has helped me through a challenging divorce and many other life-altering situations. As a woman with limited means and two children, one of whom has autism, ADHD, and other mental health, learning and physical challenges, I needed an attorney who understands the challenges of a high-conflict divorce and the emotional trauma of a long, dysfunctional marriage. Kate gets it. From the first moment we spoke, I knew that she was the perfect fit for my challenging situation—and she handled (and continues to handle) every interaction with kindness, empathy and compassion. She recommended helpful books about dealing with challenging personalities and walked me step-by-step through the divorce, parenting plan (with a wonderful mediator recommendation to finalize that plan), thorny shared custody issues for a 50/50 split, and planning for shared expenses for the children, including enormous health care costs that followed the divorce and for which our final settlement deftly prepared us. Kate and her wonderful colleagues also addressed difficult issues (legal and health care) stemming from mental health care for one child, always providing a realistic recommendation for a path forward while being a calming influence during incredibly challenging times. Almost five years after the divorce, she is now helping me to think through new legal issues—from shared health care costs to other support—that are arising as my daughter approaches age 18 and high school graduation. Her referrals are wonderful too! (Mediators, an accountant, therapists for my children and me, intensive outpatient programs and partial hospitalization programs for my daughter, an estate-planning lawyer, and, just as important when we moved out of our family home, a moving company.) I count myself fortunate to know Kate and her colleagues. I wouldn’t be anywhere close to a healthier, happier self without her!
