In May of 2025 I was 56 and had my first wreck and of course it had to be by a semi truck. I work for ER Towing and while I was still in the median in my SUV, my boss Andrew Morgan called James Shelnutt and he called me that evening! Being that I’ve never been in a situation like this I was clueless! After speaking with my attorney they did the rest! I am forever grateful for the wonderful people at Shelnutt and Varner!

Where do I begin? I had a car accident on October 5th, 2022 due to a negligent truck driver. This accident not only almost took my life, it left me paralyzed from the chest down. I was in the hospital for 3 months. During that time, I was assigned a lawyer prior to them while on the ventilator. This particular lawyer accomplished nothing between that time I was under and coming to. I never even met the individual. Time was never taken to talk to me, to meet me or my family. The only thing I'm grateful for with that particular lawyer is that it led me to Mr. Shelnutt (nothing is a coincidence). I spoke with Mr. Shelnutt, and the next day, he and Mrs. Kristi Bane, who is also wonderful, were visiting me at UAB to get things going. I was educated on things that I had no idea was even needed for my lawsuit. Had they not shown up when they did, key information wouldn't have been included because of the previous lawyers incompetence. Working with them didn't feel like "just business". I truly felt like family. Shelnutt is a busy man, and he made the time to check on me and my family during such a tragic time. Lawsuits like this take time, but the transition through that situation was very smooth. I never felt like I was out of the loop. I was updated frequently up to the mediation and beyond that. Shelnutt fought for me. There is so much to think about financially after you have a car accident. Caregivers, doctors visits, medical supplies, etc. I left the mediation feeling comfortable financially (as well as educated) with my future. Although my life changed drastically in one of the worst ways that year, Shelnutt changed my life in one of the best ways possible. People come and go into your life. I truly enjoyed our season together! I'm forever grateful. You all will always be family. Peace and love. 🩷✨
