I’m sharing this to warn others!!! I hired this divorce law firm during one of the most vulnerable times of my life. I had no independent income and relied entirely on their guidance. Over the course of my case, they ran my credit card up to nearly $30,000 yet my divorce never even made it to mediation or court. There was no meaningful progress, no resolution, and no outcome that justified the massive financial cost. I trusted that they would act in my best interest, but instead I was left in a worse financial position and still without answers. All of that said, the attorney who managed my case directly, Carolina Iglesias was an absolute Godsend. I was grateful when she transitioned firms during my case and the bills I received from there made it very clear that I had been tremendously overbilled. She did a great job and I recommend her highly. If you need someone to help you resolve your matter, please look her up. She won’t disappoint. Based on my experience, I strongly do not recommend using this law firm. If you are a stay-at-home parent or financially dependent spouse, please protect yourself.. get multiple consultations, ask hard questions about billing, and think twice before hiring this firm. I wish someone had warned me.

I'm going to try not to write a book about Alison and the Smedley Law Group, but just know that I probably could lol. I've been a single parent for a long time. I've never had to hire a lawyer, and my first and only family court experience was traumatizing, to say the least. My situation is pretty high-conflict, unfortunately, with the defendant purposefully using the courts to try to further control the narrative and further control me. However, I could tell right after my first meeting with Alison that she was not one to let anyone control a narrative that she was representing. She finds the facts and lets the truth do the talking. She is very straight-forward and does not sugarcoat a damn thing, which was something I appreciated beyond belief when it comes to being represented in a court setting, in opposition to someone who was trying to make things difficult on purpose. The team that worked on my case was also pretty great. I had more contact with them on a regular basis, as the case was being put together, which was also appreciated because Alison's time is (rightfully) pretty expensive. I thought the team did a fair job at delegating the work to save me money where it could be saved. But I will also say, I ended up spending a good bit more than I originally thought I would be paying when all was said and done. At this point, the money put out pretty much sucks, but it's an afterthought for the service that I got and am getting from Alison and her team. She's gonna tell it like it is, she's not going to give you false hope, but she will represent you and your story in the light of what's true and what can be proved. For me and my kids, that was pretty much priceless. I'll be grateful for that for a really long time.
