When the divorce case was based on a bunch of exaggerated lies and the opposing counsel was using bullying tactics, had to change lawyer and appoint Nick to stand up to these people and boy he did an amazing job. He is not shy and does not mince words when defending you. Very approachable, easy to talk to, on the face with what’s possible and what’s not in the case (no false promises of I will get you the moon) and in the end did his job. Happy to have had him on our side.

I hired Nick last February when an urgent family matter occurred. Throughout the year, Nick and his team has helped me at each step of the process regarding to my child custody case. Nick is a professional, knowledgeable, detail-oriented attorney who takes his clients’ cases seriously. Whether it was drafting legal documents or representing me in the court, I felt confident with Nick and his team behind my back. Being a parent himself, Nick was able to understand my situation and to put my child’s best interests as the top priority. The rest of his team is very professional as well and easy to reach to whenever I had questions. Overall, I am very satisfied with the work that Nick and his team has done.

Calm, cool and collected. I went through 3 attorneys during a 3 year battle that went the distance. In the end, Nick succeeded in Court resulting in a better outcome than what I had agreed for years earlier. Opposing counsel came in with a high-priced team and self proclaimed greatest status. Unlike Nick, she used my child as a pawn and her theatrical, dishonest approach did not go over well in Court. Don't let his Frat-Boy appearance fool you (a term given to him by another disgruntled opposing counsel). Nick was honest, articulate and most of all put my child first. Although I did not always feel he responded as I would have liked (his biggest challenge was dealing with an overly detailed oriented client, me), I cannot argue with the bottom line. His knowledge of the law resulted in success on issues I thought were lost. His team is wonderful and his fees fair (I was outspent 2:1). I recommend settling peacefully with a mediator, but if that is not possible, Nick is a great attorney who can represent you with dignity.

I hired Nicholas Halks while I was in the midst of a contested custody battle involving my young daughter. When you are looking for a family law attorney, you want to find someone who can relate to you on a personal level. Upon first meeting Nick, I knew I had made the right decision.
