The representative who answered my call spoke very poor English and was extremely difficult to understand. She said she needed to send a text to my phone to verify my eligibility. That was odd, as with MetLife, all she needed was an Eligibility ID, which I offered to provide, but she ignored it entirely. I offered to receive the link to verify my eligibility by email and provided my email address (over the phone). She promised to send it to my email, but never did. I’m almost certain she did not correctly capture my email address due to the language barrier. When I called back later, she no longer took my call. What a horrible experience.
My wife and I have been concerned about ICE agents detaining green card holders and citizens, often unlawfully, so we wanted to speak with a lawyer about our citizenship application and have a backup plan in case something happens to her. Immediate red flag when I received a text asking for personal information such as foreign ID number, immigration status, full name and birthplace, etc. These should have been things they asked to upload to a secure folder or via a secure call, like other law firms do. Second red flag was when we finally received a call and explained our concerns, the guy on the phone basically said "There's no unlawful detaining happening, she's not going to be detained if she has a green card." Even if these things aren't happening where you're from, how can you pretend it's not happening all over the country right now? Zero empathy or concern. Will be seeking legal support from another firm that actually cares about their clients data being secure and keeps up to date on world events.
So, I found these people through my legal plan. They claim to have so many different languages of attorneys. They don't disclose who their attorneys are. They had all sorts of random forms that required Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to be filled out... via text message! There was no secure way of giving them information that they are requiring. And there's no way way to get an appointment without filling those out. And you don't know who you'll be getting as an attorney. And the claims of the various languages other than Spanish were all false! I was working with Derly Osario and Stephanie Montoya at the time. I definitely do not recommend this for anyone to use. They are careless and terrible at what they preach!
Oscar was so incredibly helpful with our immigration and green card application. He met with us before the interview and walked us through the entire process. There were so many other documents and questions that he made us aware of that we had not even considered. If we did not meet with him before our interview, I do not think we would have had a successful experience with USCIS. Thanks Oscar!
Oscar and his team at Diaspora Law are compassionate professionals with significant subject matter expertise. I know personally of Oscar's deep commitment to the issues and his tireless work ethic from our days as law school students. He is a skilled communicator orally and in writing and will not stop until a job is done and done right/equitably. When my wife and I needed guidance on immigration issues, we thought no further than Oscar and have no regrets. I'm confident you and your family with have the same experience.
