Reviews
I recently received a notice from Law Firm of the Carolinas stating that a lien could be placed on my home due to unpaid association dues. I immediately contacted them and paid the dues in full. After payment I was informed that an additional fee of two hundred twenty eight dollars was required for legal costs. I explained that I had paid the amount owed to the association and I did not agree to additional charges. Despite that they proceeded to file a lien against my property. Once the lien was recorded they increased the total balance again and demanded more than seven hundred fifty dollars beyond the four hundred dollars I had already paid. In order to clear the lien I was forced to pay close to one thousand dollars over a one hundred twenty dollar association balance. Communication with the firm was extremely difficult. Their posted opening time is eight thirty in the morning but calls were not answered until around nine thirty. Hold times exceeded one hour on multiple calls. Requests for clear explanations of the fees were met with vague answers and no detailed documentation. It is deeply concerning that a small association balance was escalated so quickly into excessive fees and a recorded lien. The approach taken by the firm felt punitive rather than constructive. Homeowners deserve transparency and a reasonable opportunity to resolve balances before extraordinary legal action is taken.
We were considering Carolina Law Firm for a real estate closing and ultimately decided not to move forward. Multiple calls were made and a voicemail was left with no return call. We later received an email stating they would get back to us ASAP, but no follow-up ever happened. Because of how time-sensitive real estate transactions are, this was unacceptable. Due to the lack of timely communication, we ultimately retained a different firm.
Poorly ran company. I called and asked to speak with one of the attorneys, they told me “we don’t just do that”. Very tough company to do business with. Prepare to be on hold for at least 30 minutes before anyone answers.
I have corresponded with several attorneys at Law Firm Carolinas over the course of over four months and have, unfortunately, found them to be neither knowledgeable nor responsive. As a result, the matter they were supposed to be handling has become unnecessarily more complex and will cost more to resolve. I also felt their fees were higher than appropriate. My experience has been especially disappointing considering the well-reasoned work I had previously seen from other attorneys at this firm.
Law Firm Carolinas seemed to be a great place to have my clients complete their closings in the beginning of my career. However, as time has gone on the staff has become completely off setting, communication regarding process to closing transactions is little to none. Lack of courtesy has been very high. The fact that my client was unaware of a few things regarding her closing including if it even happened makes me believe that all clients being treated equal isn’t a thing within their transactions. Without clients a business doesn’t run. Showing all clients courtesy goes a long way to keep business running efficiently and effectively.
