Barri Payne is the best of the best! My divorce was long and very difficult. It was an mentally abuse marriage. I was dealing with a spouse that felt that he was smarter than anyone. Thanks to Barri she hung in there with my case. She cares and gives great advice. She is the best!

My original lawyer, Julie Wanmansee, who was also excellent, was retiring (my divorce took a bit of time) prior to the divorce. She got me with Barrí, who was luckily available and willing to jump in at the halfway point. We didn’t miss a beat in scheduling or negotiating, and Barrí was on top of the situation from the beginning. She and her legal assistant, Rachel, communicated promptly and thoroughly throughout the divorce process, and listened to me regarding my desired outcome regarding fairness and necessity for both parties. Neither of them wanted to waste time or money….When it became clear that mediation was needed, they picked an AWESOME mediator, Judge Long in Chapel Hill. Mediation went well and fairly quickly, too. Ms Payne and Rachel proceeded to wrap things up quickly and efficiently, allowing my ex wife and me to get on with our lives. Thank you so much, Barrí and Rachel! Barri helped me with a very difficult and lengthy case. She treated me with empathy and made a difficult process manageable for me. I appreciated her ethics even when things got tough. She is extremely knowledgeable and always kept on top of the many details of the case. She thinks ahead and is prepared for multiple scenarios at any given time. I can't speak highly enough of her! Windy in her office is a Gem! She is kind, responsive and organized. The two of them make such a great team to work with.
